Privacy Policy
Braai Calculator (braaicalculator.com) is a free planning site. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell mailing lists. This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, and why.
Who we are
Braai Calculator is run by a small South African team. For privacy questions or data requests, email lekker@braaicalculator.com.
What this site collects
The calculator itself runs in your browser. Guest counts and item ticks are not sent to our server, and we do not store shopping lists against your name.
Like most websites, we still receive standard technical information that your browser sends automatically: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you visit. We use this to keep the site working, to understand which guides are useful, and to show ads.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to:
- remember basic site preferences
- measure traffic and page performance
- serve and measure advertising
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking advertising cookies may mean you still see ads, just less relevant ones.
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads on some pages. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites.
Third parties, including Google, may be placing and reading cookies on your browser, or using web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site.
To understand how Google uses information from sites that use its advertising services, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
You can opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com. You can also visit Google Ads Settings and the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Google Analytics and Tag Manager
We use Google Tag Manager (container GTM-KBHKRH3Q) to load analytics and related tags. Google Analytics helps us see aggregated information such as which country a visit came from, whether someone used a phone or a laptop, and which pages were read. We do not use Analytics to identify you by name.
Google’s own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Emails you send us
If you email lekker@braaicalculator.com, for example to report a price, we keep that message so we can reply and fix the site. We do not add you to a newsletter.
Children
This site is written for adults planning a braai. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
External links
Guides on this site link to shops and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own. We are not responsible for content or cookies on those sites.
Changes
If we change how we collect or use information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
